Job Description & Requirements
Sockeye Cycle Co. is hiring a full-time mechanic for our Skagway location, starting April or May, 2023.
Our shop team supports both our busy tour operations and full-service bike shop. The mechanic will help maintain our fleet of over 100 bikes, which is mainly comprised of Trek's Marlin, Dual Sport, Fuel EX, Powerfly, and Allant+ bikes, along with Salsa's Journeyer and Timberjack. The mechanic also services customer bikes, builds retail bikes, and assists with bike rentals.
This is a seasonal position with a preferred start date between April 15 and end of May, and end date between August 15 and October 15. There is some flexibility in dates for the right person.
Compensation starts between $18-$23 per hour, depending on experience and includes an end of season bonus. Housing is also available at a low cost that matches the term of the contract.
Our location in coastal Southeast Alaska offers a vibrant summer population with many seasonal workers and thousands of daily visitors, combined with access to hiking and bike trails right out our door. Road access to Whitehorse and Carcross Yukon offers many adventure opportunities, including extensive mountain bike trail system and miles of scenic road and gravel road riding.
